I’ve got better at playing match play against opponents who consistently post par on a hole.
Instead of thinking I need to hit perfect shots, I need to aim at the fat part of fairways and greens.
The #17 par 3 is a perfect example. 177 yards to the flag and 182 yards to the back of green. I hit a nuke of a 7 iron over the green thinking I wouldn’t carry too far no matter what. But, an average 7 iron would have been fine.
I lost shots by being aggressive. Aggression leads to tension which is the opposite of what makes a good round of golf.
